Tonight: Widespread haze before midnight. Areas of smoke before midnight. Mostly clear, with a low around 45. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 81. Light and variable wind becoming south southeast 10 to 15 mph in the morning.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 50. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest after midnight.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 50. South wind around 10 mph becoming west northwest after midnight.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 82.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 47.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 84.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 50.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 51.

Next Wednesday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.

Next Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 47.

Haze and areas of smoke may lower surface visibilities to five miles at times. Isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms may occur on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

DEGRADED AIR QUALITY UNTIL NOON FRIDAY.

The following message is transmitted in collaboration with the Nebraska Emergency Management Office through Noon Friday:

Degraded air quality from smoke from western wildfires for All Nebraska Panhandle counties Through Noon time Friday. 

IMPACTS: Heavy smoke from western wildfires will continue over the Nebraska Panhandle through at least Thursday morning.

HEALTH INFORMATION: Recommended the elderly, young children, and individuals with respiratory problems avoid excessive physical exertion and minimize outdoor activities during this time. Wildfire smoke is made up of a variety of pollutants, including particulate matter and ozone, which can cause respiratory health effect. Although these people are most susceptible to health impacts, we advise that everyone should avoid prolonged exposure to poor air quality conditions.
