BREAKING NEWS - Coronavirus causes statements to be issued in our community.
BREAKING NEWS
March 12, 2020
Dear Parents and Guardians:
This is another update on information and our district plans regarding the Coronavirus or COVID-19.
We are not currently aware of any COVID-19 cases in our district. However, there are contirmed cases in eastern Nebraska with some school closures and cancellation of community events across the state.
Also, the World Health Organization (WHO) has now declared this Coronavirus a pandemic and recommends social distancing to help prevent the virus spread.
Thankfully, there have not been any confirmed deaths for children under 10 years of age due to COVID-19. There has been one death of a person between the ages of 10 and 20, but that individual had cystic fibrosis prior to contracting the virus. However, according to the WHO, the mortality for adults with COVID-19 is higher than influenza as well as being more contagious.
There is a possiblity that Kimball Public Schools may be required to close our schools and cancel school activities. School closures are an important public health tool to reduce the rate of spread of contagious diseases. The purpose of school closures regarding COVID-19 is to reduce the likelihood that children contract, then spread illness to other people, such as their parents and grandparents.
In order to prepare for a school dosure, Mary Lynch Elementary teachers will be sending learning packets home for students to study and complete. At the Jr/Sr High School level, some of our teachers will be providing educational opportunities for students through Canvas or Google Classroom and perhaps learning packets.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is providing updated guidance daily. Please find the most up to date information at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavinus/2019-ncow/index.html.
Sincerely,
Cuyabtana Dr. Elizabeth Owens
Superintendent of Schools
Dear Family, Friends and Loved ones of the Kimball County Manor:
We know many of you are concerned about the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and how it may impact the Kimball County Manor and Assisted Living. Ensuring our residents are cared for in a safe and healthy environment is our first priority.
This is a developing situation, and we are in the process of Canceling events, closing the building to visitor, delivery trucks and limiting visits to designated family members.
Here are some of the changes you may notice in our building that are allowing visitors to reduce the chances of the virus spreading
One entrance to the building and a log to sign in when entering and sign out when leaving:, and who you are visiting This will be located at the front office.
Please limit your visit to the person you are there to see. this will help to minimize the risk of spreading germs.
Consider options for keeping in touch with your loved one other than an in-person visit. These may include telephone, email, text, or through Skype or social media channels.
Please tell your family members and friends who may visit our building if they have any respiratory symptoms to not visit.
All deliveries will be made at the front entrance and Manor personnel wil meet them to receive their items.
No children under the age of 15 will be allowed into the Manor.
Do not visit our community if you have any symptoms of respiratory illness:
Cough, Fever, Sore Throat, Runny Nose and or Shortness of Breath.
If you have traveled abroad or out of the state recently. please contact us before planning to visit.
VISITORS:
Practice good cough etiquette by covering your mouth, not with your hand, but cough into your elbow.
Wash your hands before entering our facility. Try to keep a 6-foot distance from others to avoid spreading germs.
Wash, Wash, Wash and avoid touching your face as this can be an area of transmission.
