BREAKING NEWS: News Headlines
BREAKING NEWS
Kimball Public Schools had their first full day today Tuesday in more than a week. The last time was Monday of last week. For 5 school days, they had a heat schedule that had all students out at 1:00 PM from last Tuesday through this Monday. The heat wave stayed in Kimball for a week. But now, it has finally moved out of our area. Today is very fairly warm with temperatures in the 80s and then we will be cooling down into the 70s the rest of the week.
Farmers Day Weekend is just a week and a half away and people are getting excited. Kimball Kamakazee Klub R/C Planes will host an annual flight for the first time in three years and this will be on Sunday, September 30th at 12 noon.
The last flight was in 2015. It was last held on Sunday, September 27th, 2015. It was cancelled last year in 2017 because of cold and wet weather conditions. Many people were bundled up in jackets and umbrellas at last year's Farmers Day Parade and the cold wet weather conditions were caused by a strong cold front that moved through Kimball last year on Farmers Day weekend 2017. The cancellation was made 2 days prior to the scheduled annual event on Friday because the weather forecast showed the cold front moving through Kimball that entire weekend.
The year before that, it was cancelled in 2016 due to scheduling conflicts that did not make it work out that previous year. So they had cancelled this event the last two years in a row. So this will be an excitement to see this event back this year!!!
And very important to announce:
Panhandle Geotechnical & Environmental will be conducting work at the intersection of Highway 30 and Chestnut starting Wednesday and Thursday, September 19th & 20th, 2018.
During this time, there will be intermittent lane closures, but thru traffic will be permitted.
The public is urged to use caution through the work zone.
If you have any questions regarding this work please contact Brian Hilbert at 308-632-6735. Geotechnical & Environmental thanks you for your cooperation during this project.
This has been a special news report. We now send you back to regular programming.
