City Council Agenda Regular Meeting on Tuesday Evening, July 7th, 2026
The City Council of Kimball held a meeting to discuss and approve various items including an economic development plan under Nebraska's Local Option Municipal Economic Development Act (LB840), with public hearing comments suggesting additions of grant writing and performance metrics to the program descriptors. The council approved the mayor's appointment of Tracy Butler to the Library Board and discussed and approved Resolution 2026-03 for the November 3rd ballot question regarding the economic development plan and associated funding through property tax and sales tax. They also approved Ordinance 853 adopting the amended economic development plan with the requested additions, and approved special event permits for beer garden operations during community celebrations. The conversation ended with the formal appointment of James Lucero as the new City of Kimball Police Chief, who presented his comprehensive 90- and 120-day plans focusing on community engagement, cultural reform, and operational improvements for the police department.
