City Council Agenda Regular Meeting on Tuesday Evening, August 4th, 2026

The Kimball City Council meeting focused on reviewing and discussing the preliminary 2026-2027 fiscal year budgets for various city departments. The council approved an amendment to the interlocal agreement for the Western Nebraska Regional Land Bank, changing its name to the Western Panhandle Regional Land Bank, and appointed Jolie Burrell to the Community Redevelopment Authority Board. The council discussed the potential investment in the land bank and approved the surplus sale of a 2017 Dodge Charger police canine unit. Department heads presented their budget drafts, highlighting challenges due to declining sales tax revenues. The police chief provided an update on staffing and community engagement efforts. Public comments raised concerns about police protection near a new crisis center and suggested cost-saving measures. The meeting also included updates on projects such as the Sentinel program and landfill operations.

Kimball Public Schools is looking for substitute teachers for the 2026-2027 school year.
