Our guest this week is Karen Lightman, the executive director of the Metro21 Smart Cities Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. She’s on the show to talk about the passage of the $1.2 billion infrastructure bill by Congress. We talk about the impact this will have on smart cities and specific policy recommendations to ensure we get wide-reaching equitable broadband access. Because you can’t have a smart city or even the internet of things without the internet. She also shares a bit about the backlash that the smart cities movement experiences as citizens grew concerned about their privacy and the rise of surveillance states, and talks about her hopes that companies will do more to build that trust. Art Craft & Book Sale at the Kimball Library
The Friends of the Kimball Public Library is holding a Small Business Saturday Sale on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the Kimball Public Library, 208 S Walnut St. in Kimball.
There will be arts and crafts from Local vendors for sale, and we will also be having a used book sale.
The first hour from 9am-10am will be for paid Friends of the Kimball Library members. If you are not a current member, you can come and join for only $5.00 at the day of the sale! Members will get first choice at the book sale, as well as first choice at the wonderful arts and crafts for sale!
