City Council Agenda Regular Meeting on Tuesday Evening, June 2nd, 2026
The City Council meeting focused on rezoning applications and local emergency operations planning. The council approved an ordinance to rezone property at 235 Kearney Street from half C2 general commercial and half R2 medium to high density residential to all R2 medium to high density residential. They also discussed and approved the 2026 Kimball Local Emergency Operations Plan with a modification to locate the Emergency Operations Center at the transit center instead of the fire hall. The council reviewed LB840 inspection plans and housing requirements, deciding to keep residential components in the plan while noting the need for clear public explanation during the upcoming public hearing. City staff provided updates on various projects including Frontier Finds weekend events, pool operations, lights at the city park, and plans to paint the underpass with student involvement.

The City Council meeting began with a full quorum present. The meeting followed the required Open Meetings Act procedures and started with a roll call. The council moved to approve the minutes from a previous meeting, with a motion made, seconded, and approved through voting. The next agenda item was a public hearing, though the transcript ended before details were discussed.
