School Board Meeting on Tuesday Evening, September 15th, 2026

City Council Agenda Regular Meeting on Tuesday Evening, September 15th, 2026

The City of Kimball held a budget adoption hearing and city council meeting to discuss the 2026-27 fiscal budget and property tax request. The council approved change order number 5 for the wastewater treatment plant project, which involved moving diffusers and requiring additional piping work. They passed Ordinance 854 to establish a violation bureau for non-moving traffic violations, allowing quick enforcement of violations like abandoned vehicles without going through county court. The council also approved Resolution 2026-07 setting the property tax request at $843,432.31, representing a 3% decrease from the previous year. Annette provided updates on several projects including a graffiti removal initiative involving local high school students, progress on the water tank project expected to be completed by late September or early October, and ongoing property abatement efforts with 12 properties currently in the process. The conversation ended with discussion of upcoming events including Farmers Day and the implementation of new tornado sirens through a NEMA grant.

Kimball City Council Agenda Regular Meeting on Tuesday Evening, September 1st, 2026

The Kimball City Council meeting focused on budget discussions, ordinance amendments, and community updates. The council approved an amendment to the Kino Fund ordinance to use its proceeds for parks, pools, and the library, as a temporary solution to offset lost sales tax revenue. They also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Trusted Community Development (TCD) for economic development services, with a focus on passing the LB840 initiative. The council reviewed and set the mill levy at .400461, which represents a slight decrease from the previous year. Updates were provided on the water tank rehabilitation project and the wastewater treatment plant, both of which are on schedule. The city staff addressed concerns about property maintenance, explaining the legal process required before the city can take action on private property. Other agenda items included approving an outdoor beer garden for TT's Hometown Public Grub and reviewing departmental budgets for the upcoming fiscal year.
