Medley of "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" & "Here Cones Santa Claus" by the Ventures, plus a Techno Remix of "Greensleeves (What Child is This?") This third Christmas video for 2012 was panned from the back of a very slowly moving pickup to present a "panoramic" view of the north and west sides of our corner lot. As you can observe, the west (front) side and house rooftop are almost (95%) completed with animated LED decorations. However, the north side of our lot is only about 10% done/decorated. It will take another week (of good weather) to finish "saturating" our large yard, house, and garage with "flashdancing "LEDs. We will be done when our complete Xmas musical light show with its 14 different tunes/songs and its 63,000+ LEDs resembles a gigantic, 45 minute fireworks show!!! That's how most of our friends, relatives, and spectators like it -- a busy, chaotic, animated, kaleidoscopic, wild & crazy visualization of some holiday music!! "Nut Rocker," by B. Bumble and the Stingers This lively (wild?) classic rock and roll instrumental was inspired by Tchchaikovsky's ballet, "The Nutcracker." This second Xmas video was shot from under our front arbor (light-leaping arch). The video was done for mainly experimental/analytical purposes and by studying it repeatedly with close scrutiny, we did discover six relatively minor flaws or problems in our computer programming -- which we have to fix/solve before we shoot our next video -- maybe in two days -- we hope! Medley of "Little Drummer Boy," Joy to the World," & Do You Hear What I Hear?" This test video demonstrates the functioning of three LED Christmas props that were created by us during the first two weeks of September. The central, two-dimensional prop is made from a 4' x 5' rectangle of corrugated plastic (coroplast or "coro.") The "decorated evergreen tree" is almost 4'9" tall and 3'9" wide at the base. This "coro tree" is framed along the front and back edges by 1" x 2" lumber. A drawing of 16 concentric, simple conifer outlines was made on the back side of the coro, with the outlines spaced 7/8" apart. Using a large awl, about 2,300 holes were punched (7/8" apart) from the backside along the 16 outlines. Using pliers, M5 LED lights were forced through the punched holes from the back until just the plastic "bulbs" or LEDs protruded on the front and their sockets fit snugly in the holes. Eight different colors of M5 LEDs were used: red; amber; gold; green; blue; purple; warm white; & pure/cool white. Only two separated outlines of the 16 total were lit with the same color. Of course, the 16 tree outlines of 2,300+ LEDs are controlled individually by the circuits of a Light-O-Rama controller. The two 3-dimensional spiral trees beside the "chameleon coro tree" are almost clones, except their LED strands coil in opposite directions. Each tree is 7' tall, portable, and mounted on a 33" diameter plywood base. Each multi-coiled spiral tree consists of 12 helices, with each helix being an 8-foot long, twisted, double strand of multicolored LEDs made from a 16-foot string of lights that was folded in half. "Tubular Bells" -- Theme from "The Exorcist" by Mike Oldfield This fifth Halloween video for 2012, like the first one, was videographed from the back of our slowly moving pickup to show an overall view of our current Halloween Musical Light Show as seen by hundreds of typical spectators and motorists who visit our "spooktacular" corner lot. "Bad Moon Rising" by CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival) The large pumpkin "Roof-Top Singer" on the upper right represents John Fogerty -- who was the main songwriter, singer and lead guitarist for CCR -- our favorite rock group from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Yes! -- We are living-fossil rednecks!! Theme Music for the movie "Halloween" by Tyler Bates. This first Halloween video for 2012 was panned from the back of a slowly-moving pickup to present a "panoramic" view of a portion of this year's Halloween Musical Light Show. This video, shot at sundown, is primarily meant to be a documentary record of over 80 "monstrous," mainly home-made, staked "scare crows" that border our corner-lot front yard (graveyard/cemetery) and water feature. Ten of our commercial "critters" are animatronic and respond in various ways to external auditory and motion stimuli. Almost all the members of our "creature feature" have lit-up eyes -- many of which slowly fade off and on or flash. The heights of our spooky menagerie vary from 2 to 17 feet! In the future, we will be adding a few more Halloween videos that will emphasize songs and the speech mimicry of our dozen "singers!!"
