The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Kimball County in the Panhandle of Nebraska, Western Cheyenne County in the Panhandle of Nebraska, Southern Banner county in the Panhandle of Nebraska, Southwestern Morrill County in the Panhandle of Nebraska and Southeastern Laramie County in Southeastern Wyoming until 10:00 PM.
At 9:27 PM, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 7 miles southwest of Harrisburg to near Panorama Point, moving east at 60 mph. Hazards are 60 mph wind gusts. Source is radar indicated. Impacts are to expect damage to roofs, siding and trees. Locations impacted include Kimball, Pine Bluffs, Potter, Dix, Oliver Campground, Oliver Reservoir, Kimball Airport, Panorama Point and Bushnell. This includes the following highways:
Interstate 80 in Wyoming between mile markers 398 and 402 and Interstate 80 in Nebraska between mile markers 1 and 47. Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. move indoors immediately. lightning is one of natures leading killers. remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
